We'll have several wonderful dogs there looking for homes!<br/><br/>———————<br/><br/>ZANDER is one of those quiet, sweet boys who just needs a little time to feel safe. The world is still pretty new to him, so he can be a little unsure at first. New sounds, new places, even leash walks are things he’s still learning about. But he’s such a loving, gentle dog. Once he starts to feel comfortable, you can see how much he wants to trust and connect.<br/><br/>Zander would do great in a home with another confident, friendly dog to help show him the ropes. He also likes kids. Having a buddy around would really help him come out of his shell. With a little patience and a lot of love, he’s going to grow into an amazing companion.<br/><br/>Zander recently got to go on a sleepover with one of our amazing volunteers, and let’s just say… this sweet boy did pretty great. <br/><br/>He was a little unsure at first (the world can still feel a bit big and new to him), but it didn’t take long for a cheeseburger to win him over. After that, he started relaxing and showing just how gentle and sweet he really is.<br/><br/>Bath time? Total angel. Zander patiently let himself be cleaned up like the good boy he is. He’s also very food motivated, which makes winning his heart pretty easy. <br/><br/>The highlight of his night though? The volunteer’s daughter. Zander was absolutely obsessed with her and clearly thinks kids are the best thing ever. If he could design his perfect home, it would probably include some human siblings to play with.<br/><br/>He was friendly with the resident dogs but seemed more interested in hanging out with his people than playing. The only time he got a little sad was when he had to sit behind a baby gate while the family ate dinner — he just really wanted to be part of the fun.<br/><br/>If you have a calm home and a soft spot for the shy ones, Zander might be your perfect match.<br/><br/>Zander is a 10 month old Husky/Pit Bull mix and he weighs 60 pounds.<br/><br/>Sadly, ZANDER tested positive for heartworms. But please don’t let this scare you away! We just need to get him into a home during his treatment. The cost for the heartworm treatment is completely covered. We can provide you with more info about his heartworm treatment if you are interested in adopting or fostering him (we’d love to find him a foster home!). Once his treatment plan is completed, Zander will be able to live a normal healthy life with no restrictions!<br/><br/><br/>ADOPTING A DOG<br/>Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older).<br/><br/>If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match.<br/><br/>We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend.
