Zamira #1's Story

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Zamira #1 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) .

Zamira | 12-Week-Old Lab Mix | Playful Explorer with a Snuggly Side

Zamira is a 12-week-old Lab mix weighing 19 pounds, with a beautiful black-and-white coat and a bright, curious spirit. She is a happy, playful puppy who wants to be involved in everything her people are doing. After a good play session, she’s just as content to sit beside you and rest her head on you for some quiet snuggles.

She is making progress with housetraining but still has a ways to go, as expected for her age. She does not yet signal when she needs to go outside, so her future family will need to stay consistent with routine and supervision. Zamira is also working on crate training. She will go in with treats and encouragement and may whine or bark at first, but she settles after a bit. She has been left crated with another dog in the home for 3–4 hours and has done well overall.

On leash, she’s off to a great start. She’s getting used to wearing a collar and harness in the yard and has been doing wonderfully. Walks are already enjoyable, and with continued positive training, she is going to be a fantastic companion for longer walks and hikes once she’s older.

Zamira has had positive interactions with dogs of all sizes and absolutely loves to play. She has met cats and shows typical puppy excitement but can be redirected and move along. She has also done well with children, including kids around 9 years old and up. She loves everyone and does not show any preference between men and women.

Her energy level falls between medium and high. She would thrive in an active household that can provide plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation. Fetch, toys, chew bones, car rides, and water play are all high on her list of favorites. She is smart, food motivated, and already knows “sit,” so she is well set up to continue learning. Like many young puppies, she is still working through some play biting and occasional mouthing, but she is improving every day.

Zamira’s ideal home is with an active person or family looking for a friendly, social puppy to grow alongside them. With continued structure, training, and lots of love, she is going to blossom into an incredible adventure buddy and devoted companion.

If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.

The adoption fee for this pet is $475 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following:

Spay/neuter

Microchip

DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption.

Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!

Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.
