Z's Story

Z is a passive, protective and happy lap dog in Junction City, Kansas. She came from an owner who is deployed and her other caregiver has multiple medical issues and is unable to handle a large dog. Z is fostered in a home with ten other dogs, fortunately she gets along with all dogs. If a male dog tries to hump her, she gives a quick correction and no escalation occurs. She gets along with balanced female dogs in the house. She does not get along with cats. She does defend her toys from other dogs. Z is loving with men, women and children. She responds well to treats and is eager to learn.

Z is current with rabies, distemper/parvovirus and bordatella vaccinations, given April 1, 2025. She tested heartworm negative and takes heart guard plus. She behaves well with the vet.

Z has had TPLO surgery on both hind legs. She is fully recovered from both procedures and is gaining strength in both legs. She was very cooperative during her post-operative recovery.
Additional Notes from Evaluator: Z does resource guard food and toys but only with other dogs. She is very excited for toys and will hoard them. She knows sit and exhibits trust on a leash and has minor pulling. Sometimes she jumps and barks at loud noises and will flinch with sudden hand lift. Z does OK with fireworks. She does have some muscle waste on her back legs due to having bilateral TPLO surgeries which will rebuild now that her knees are fixed. She is a lover girl with moderate activity level; she can be lazy but also likes to be adventurous. Overall, Z is as sweet as can be and she will be a great addition to a loving family!
