Z's Story

Meet Z, a sensitive and affectionate soul who is proving to be an absolute star in a home environment. This handsome boy has mastered the art of indoor living; he is fully house-trained, uses the back door to signal when he needs to go out, and is a champion sleeper who loves nothing more than a good cuddle. Z is exceptionally well-behaved in his crate, often tucking himself away spontaneously when he's ready for some quiet time with a favorite bone. While he is an expert at identifying his own toys-aside from the occasional soggy slipper-he is also a quick learner who responds beautifully to positive reinforcement. He already knows "sit" and has learned to use his dog beds as "anchor points" to politely stay out of the kitchen during meal prep.

In the backyard, Z transforms into a playful athlete who could fetch a ball all day long. However, the big wide world still feels a bit daunting to him, and he is looking for a patient family to help him navigate it. Since many common household sounds and outdoor sights are new to him, he can be a bit jumpy and needs a confident leader to reassure him that he is safe. On walks, his curiosity often gets the better of him, leading to some leash pulling when he spots new people or dogs. Because he is still learning how to process new experiences, Z will thrive best with an adopter committed to continued leash training and very slow, supervised introductions. With a little time and a lot of love, Z is sure to become the loyal, confident companion he was always meant to be.

CARE STL uses a match-making style of adoption which focuses on pairing animals with humans to better each other based on the individual's needs and lifestyle.
