Yukon (Jesse)'s Story

Meet Yukon — an adventure-loving husky mix!

Yukon is a young husky/German Shepherd mix with striking looks and a very easy-going personality. He takes life as it comes. New environments, new routines, even a treadmill introduction, he handles it all without much hesitation.

He's friendly with people and gets along well with other dogs. Like many adolescents, he's still learning how to read social cues, but with guidance and structure, he continues to improve. He is not aggressive.

Yukon is crate trained, quiet, and settles well. He's not overly demanding for attention, but he does enjoy being near his people and will occasionally do cute little “cat-like” rubs for affection.

He's currently working on leash skills and does best with consistency and clear expectations. He's also learning context-based independence. In the home, he's building the ability to self-entertain with toys so you can go about your day. Outside, he's working on engagement and staying connected to his handler, as he is very curious and easily drawn to the environment.

His exercise needs are moderate for his mix. A couple of daily walks and some weekend outings like hikes or adventures will keep him happy. He would also benefit from a home committed to continuing his weight loss journey.

Yukon is highly trainable and thrives with simple, consistent structure. He's not a dog who overcomplicates things, which makes him a great fit for someone looking for a steady, low-drama companion.

He may not be winning any science fairs anytime soon, but he just might win your heart.

Help Yukon take his next step. He just needs the right person to say yes.

If Yukon could be the perfect addition to your home, please submit an adoption application on our websitre: furlovehaven.org

** Please understand that we are a volunteer-run organization and we do our best to respond in a timely manner. Fur Love Haven's Adoption Policy
Adopters must be at least 18 years of age. Adopted animals may not be given away, sold, or traded, even as a gift to a friend or family member, or taken to a shelter without Fur Love Haven’s (FLH) prior approval. Adopted animals must be cared for in a humane and responsible manner and provided with clean and appropriate shelter, food, water, exercise, companionship and veterinary care. Animal will be indoors and will not be chained/penned outside. FLH recommends that the adopter has a veterinarian examine their adopted animal within 15 days of adoption. Adopters can return their animal to FLH within 15 days of the date of the adoption and FLH will refund the entire adoption fee paid. The adoption fee is not refundable after 15 days from the date of the adoption agreement even if returned to FLH. The adopter will ensure the animal is up to date on vaccines and notify FLH of any behavioral problems that have occurred before an adopted animal is returned. At the time of adoption, the animal will have age appropriate core vaccinations unless an FLH veterinarian recommends delaying any vaccinations for health reasons. If vaccinations were not completed and were due prior to adoption, an FLH representative will coordinate vaccines at the expense of FLH. Core vaccinations are DHPP, Bordatella and Rabies for dogs; FVRCP and Rabies for cats. The adopter is financially responsible for the animal (including boosters and subsequent vaccinations) effective the date of the adoption. A representative from the organization may make inquiries to veterinarians or visit the animal to ensure that it is well taken care of. If we find that the animal has been neglected or abused in any way or for any reason, we reserve the right to remove the animal from the premises. Attempts to remove the animal shall not constitute trespass at the property occupied by the animal. Upon removal, ownership rights of the animal automatically transfer back to Fur Love Haven. Adopters agree to immediately notify FLH of any change of contact information (address, phone number, or email address) or the event the animal becomes lost or dies. Adopters agree to notify FLH, without delay, if they can no longer care for or keep their animal and agree to give FLH reasonable time to rehome or place the animal in an approved foster home, if available. At FLH discretion we may approve a foster-to-adopt arrangement. An adoption is not final until confirmation is received in written form from FLH. At FLH discretion FLH may approve an adoption prior to the spay/neuter of an animal and a Spay/Neuter Agreement will be required. Adopters agree to be bound by the terms of the separate Spay/Neuter Agreement. Adopters agree that Fur Love Haven will remain as a secondary contact on the animal’s microchip registration with the phone number (971) 208-3881. Adopters agree to ensure proper licensing of the animal and compliance with all applicable local and state statutes. Potential Adopters authorize Fur Love Haven (FLH) to contact: Veterinarian(s) to check the care provided to previously and/or current pets, and to check the spay/neuter history; Property owner/managers to ensure permission to keep pets) on the premises; and Employer to confirm employment
