Meet Yukon, a nearly 2-year-old, 50-pound mixed-breed girl with a whole lot of personality packed into one very energetic package! Yukon was found as a teenage pup in a parking lot with her mom, and she has been growing into the fun-loving, affectionate dog she is today in her foster home.<br/><br/>Yukon can be shy when meeting new people and needs a little time to decide that you are one of the good ones. She may initially hang back or even try to hide if something feels scary, especially loud or unfamiliar noises. Give her a few minutes, though, and she will usually start army-crawling her way toward you for some attention. Once she trusts you, Yukon is incredibly affectionate and loves pressing her whole body against you to soak up scratches and pets. She is the kind of dog who wants to be near her person and looks to them for confidence when she is unsure.<br/><br/>She is currently fostered with other dogs and absolutely loves having canine friends. Her mom and her giant foster brother Buddy are favorite wrestling partners, and Yukon loves running, playing, and zooming around the yard with them. She is a total ball of energy who can go from full-speed zoomies to suddenly rushing back over to sit on your feet and demand some affection.<br/><br/>Yukon is also wonderfully crate trained and does very well when it's time to settle in her crate. When she comes out, though, she immediately starts looking for something to carry into the yard because apparently every outdoor adventure requires a personal treasure. She enjoys being brushed, loves spending time outside. <br/><br/>Yukon is looking for a patient adopter who understands that some dogs need a little time to feel comfortable with new people. Once she feels safe, her sweet, silly, affectionate personality really shines. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt<br/><br/>Adoption process:<br/>Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved.<br/><br/>From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption.<br/><br/>Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption.
