Yukon has a heart that is just filled with love and gratitude. You can see it in his eyes. He is so happy to be in a better situation now and wants to soak up as much of it as he can. While he does enjoy being around the other dogs he will absolutely leave that to be with his people. When you pick him up he will melt into you as if to say please don’t ever let me go. He has a very calm and sweet disposition and picks up on things quickly. He is already doing very well with his potty habits and will be fully potty trained in no time. He has this amazingly soft, jet-black fur that is just luxurious to pet and he is happy to let you pet him for as long as you would like. He is going to be a wonderful addition to anyone’s family ??

To know me, you have to know my story. It is not pretty, but it is a part of me. And while I am glad that the past is behind me, but I cannot forget what happened to me.

Being a cute and fluffy puppy, you would think that I would be cherished. Instead, it would seem that most of my life was spent in a kennel. Hardly any room to move around and crammed together with my siblings Theo and Mozzy. We spent the majority of our puppyhood cooped up and hungry. I still remember the day that we finally earned our freedom. It wasn't because our former owners work up one day and decided to love us. It wasn't because they found homes for us. It was because they drove us out to the middle of nowhere and dumped us. It is pretty bad when your choices are spending all your life in a small space or trying to fend for yourself in the wilderness. On one hand, we were free, but on the other, we were lost, scared, and hungry. At least the small space we knew, now there were miles and miles of nothing.

I don't remember how long we were on our own before someone found us. We were emaciated, sickly looking, matted, stinky, and dirty. We were brought to the shelter and they weren't sure if we would pull through or not. We were sick for a bit but ended up bouncing back. When we weren't reclaimed the shelter reached out to this rescue about taking us in. As you can see, they said yes and my brothers and I started our new leash on life.

I had never been in the house before. Heck, sometimes I feel like I never really knew love before coming to this rescue. So, when my foster family pays attention to me I just about melt. You cannot even imagine how nice it feels to be loved...to feel wanted. I have become besties with the other dogs and enjoy their companionship. I am playful with them but am not a crazy player. I enjoy a short wrestling session, then am ready to either take a nap or get in some cuddles with my foster family. While I like the companionship of other dogs, I think I would also be happy as only dog if my new family were home most of the day. I have met the cat in my foster home, but she ignores me and I her. We really don't pay much attention to one another. I really like the kids in my foster home and am pretty gentle with them. I will say that they know proper boundaries with the dogs, so hopefully, if my new family has kids they will be respectful of my space/boundaries as well.

The car is still new a thing to me, but so far I ride pretty well and seem calm during road trips. Given my age, I have not been to any public outings yet. I am a people dog and I think that I would love the opportunity to go places with my family. I have not been on any walks yet due to my age so my new family will need to be prepared to work with me on my leash training. As calm as I am, I am not sure I would have the energy for a hike but that may change as I get bigger. I love people and am very friendly and sweet even with strangers. So far, I have not jumped on any people. I did great meeting all the dogs in my foster pack and love getting to hang out with my foster brother Kiowa.

I am not interested in playing fetch. I have been introduced to toys but am not sure what to do with them as of yet. I am unsure if I am a water dog or not. I am very calm for a puppy. My favorite thing to do is sit on the couch and cuddle with my people. I do have pretty big paws so don't know that I would be a good candidate for apartment living. I am not potty trained but do seem to have the idea down. I have only had a couple of accidents in the house so far. I have never been kenneled and stay baby gated to a certain part of the house when my foster family is away. I have not been a big chewer or barker in my foster home.

Well, there you have it. That is my story and how I ended up here. That is all I have to share about myself. I really hope that we are a match. The app to adopt me can be found at https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/hx000BP7nbQvjHX49Uur80FV3

Please I am begging you though, only apply to adopt me if you can keep me forever. If you can't keep me through ALL of my life's changes, don't be the one that makes me have to be passed around a few months/years down the line. That just isn't fair to me.

I would NEVER give up on myself, so please don't give up on me. I want to be your forever...not your until dog.
