Yuki's Story

Breed: Formosan Mountain Dog
Mixed: Yes
Gender: Female, Spayed
Age: 3 years
Weight: 32lbs
Size: Medium
Dogs: Good with big and small dogs
Cats: Good with cats
Kids: unknown
Housebroken: yes
Crate Trained: no
Leash: Good on leash
Energy Level: Medium

Meet Yuki!

Yuki was the mother dog of three puppies, who appeared in a feeding area in Taiwan where a volunteer went to feed the strays regularly. The volunteer started observing them and discovered that Yuki is not only great with other dogs but was also friendly to people. So, the volunteer decided to bring Yuki home to foster her and help finding a forever loving home oversea for this sweet girl.

Yuki was adopted to the Bay Area in March 2021 but one day when they were taking a walk in the neighborhood and someone set off a firework nearby and startled Yuki and she has been traumatized ever since then. She is easily spooked by unexpected noises and would go into panic mode and would not want to go outside. This is beyond what her current family can handle and they would like to find another home that is better suited for her needs.

Yuki is a medium energy dog, generally a 45 min walk or less if she plays with another dog. Lunch/dinner time potty break, fine with a 10-30 minute walk, shorter if she finds a dog to play with. Then she sleeps for the rest of the eve/night. She prefers playing to walks longer than 20-35 minutes. Doesn’t like hiking, prefers walking around a strip mall to quiet neighborhood. Loves car rides. Yuki is great at restaurants, coffee shops and bars, will hangout on mat (if she’s already eaten or feed her on mat). She prefers eating in her bed and food puzzles over bowl. Despite her fear of unexpected noises, Yuki is fine with vacuum, washer and dryer machines noises. Yuki is ok with kids if they don't surprise her and she could be resource guarding her toys and treats with human and other dogs she is not familiar with.

Yuki is currently being fostered in San Francisco. We are looking for a family willing to continue working with her on her fear of loud and unexpected noises.

To see more pictures and videos of Yuki, please visit http://pets.adoptgair.org/pets.php?pid=20375

To start the adoption process, please fill out an application at http://www.adoptgair.org/adoptionapplication/
