Yta's Story

Personality: Very shy and needs patience to be her sweetest self with new folks. She is a big lover of dogs!

Education: Good with bathroom, crate and working on leash training.

Favorite Activities: Sunbathing, playing with dog pals, having treats.

Looking For: A patient and loving home where she can have her space and needs respected. She needs a dog pal to be her mentor. A yard is necessary for business till she learns to be okay on the leash.

Special Needs/Concerns: Decompression time, patience and dog sibling.

Bio: Sweet yta bitty!

Hi friends! I am a 3.5 years old, female spayed Lab mix. I am about 38 lbs and quite a cute petite girl. I came from The Bahamas from Voiceless Dogs of Nassau, after they closed and TAP took some of us in. I have been a good doggo in training and aced bathroom and crate manners. I still need work on the leash as I am quite scared of it or even of being touched right now. I am working on overcoming my past trauma and learning to trust. My foster has been amazingly patient and I would love for my adopters also to allow me decompression time.

I am a quiet and calm girl who enjoys spending time around in the yard. Sunbathing is my favorite pastime! I adore my dog friends and feel the best around them. I play with them and tuck myself in the crate when I need my cozy corner. I do have a tendency to guard my food at meal times from my dog pals, and need to be fed separately, but I take treats around them without issue. I will be fine around older kids and teens who will be respectful of my space.

I would love a loving and patient family who will let me be till I develop confidence and trust. I pawmise it will be so rewarding! I will definitely need another dog to help me and be my sibling. They also help me be at home calmly when my pawrents are out. I would need a fenced yard too to be able to do my bathroom business as I am unable to be on a leash yet. If you think you can be my safe and eventually happy space, please let us give each other a chance.

My adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please apply!

The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
