Yoshi's Story
Yoshi is a 2 year old terrier mix who flew to Colorado from Texas a couple weeks ago. She tested positive for heartworms, which is a death sentence in Texas. Yoshi was put on an antibiotic for 30 days. She will see our vet for 2 shots spaced over two months. After treatment, it takes at least six months before it is possible to get an accurate result and make sure that she is rid of the dangerous worms. In the meantime, we would love to find a foster or adoptive home for her.

Yoshi weighs just under 12 pounds, and has wirey terrier black and white fur. She has the big pointy ears of a Papillon. She was an owner surrender in Texas, but the person who brought her into the shelter said that they found her running as a stray. She may have been abandoned when she tested positive for heartworms. She is timid with new people, but loves attention from people she knows. She gets along well with the other dogs in her current foster home.

She likes lap time, but not grooming, so it will take to get comfortable with grooming with her new people. She enjoys going outside into the fenced-in backyard to check out the different smells, but she keeps close track of where her foster mom is. She doesnt want to be left alone outside. She seems to be housetrained and she does sleep through the night.

Yoshi would probably do well with a companion dog, in an adult home. She would like her people to be home a lot, so perhaps a retired couple, or someone who works from home. She would probably do best in a detached home as she can be barky with people and dogs she doesn't know, or when her people come or go without her. We havent seen any indications of separation anxiety, she just takes a nap when her foster Mom leaves the house!

Yoshi is spayed, she is up to date on her vaccinations (rabies, distemper and kennel cough), vet checked, and microchipped. Rescue would continue to pay for her heartworm treatment until she tests negative for heartworms. If you would like to meet Yoshi, go to www.cominischnauzerrescue,com and complete the on-line adoption application. We cannot set up a meet and greet appointment until we have a completed application. We suggest that you print a copy of the application before you hit the submit button, just in case! We will give you a call to set up a time to bring Yoshi for a visit. If you have completed an adoption application within the last 12 months, or have previously adopted from Vintage Dog Rescue and would like to meet Yoshi, please let us know.
