Yogi's Story

A051701 Yogi; neutered male German Shepherd mix; est. 7 years; 94 pounds
Contact : Calaveras County Animal Services (209)754-6509
or animal@calaverascounty.gov

Yogi and his diminutive buddy, a Terrier mix named Rusty (also posted for adoption), came to the shelter due to their owner facing an unfortunate housing crisis. The two are bonded, but they could be adopted separately if needed. Wouldn't it be lovely, though, to see them continue being pals in a home together? Perhaps a long shot, but here's hoping!

Yogi is a friendly, mature gentlemen. Nothing seems to phase him much, even being in the chaotic shelter. He is confident with people and all dogs, big or small.

Yogi enjoys walkies and making new friends. He may have some hearing loss, though we can't say for sure it's not "selective hearing." Yogi is chatty when he's excited, though how a Shepherd mix learned to imitate a hound dog's ow-woo is a mystery.

Yogi is very loving with all the people he has met and has not shown any reactivity to other dogs. As one might imagine, at his age he walks at a dignified pace; very nice for pleasant strolling.

Yogi passed all behavioral tests perfectly.

Though of course we can't make promises, his clean kennel indicates he is housebroken.

Yogi is neutered and can go home with you right away.

He needs to go to a home without cats.

As always, a meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The shelter is completely full, bursting at the seams, every corner stuffed!
Check out Animal Services’ Fee Flexibility Program:
*Any animal that has been available for adoption for more than 15 days, the overall fee for the adoption will be 50% OFF. (Please note that the stray/wait period does NOT count toward the 15 days.)
*Overpopulation: We are limited to 21 dog kennels and 34 cat cages. When either of these get to 80% full or above, the total adoption fee will be 50% OFF.
* The 55-5-5 program: Any adopter over 55 years old adopting any pet over 5 years old will pay a total adoption fee of $5.00.

In other words, now is a great time to come in and adopt your new best buddy!
