Yodi's Story
A060200 Yodi; intact female Australian Cattle Dog mix; est. 1 year, 6 months; 33.8 lbs
Contact: Calaveras County Animal Services
(209)754-6509
Website: https://animal.calaverasgov.us/
Email: animal@calaverascounty.gov

Here is YODI, part of a clan of dogs who all came from one place. Sadly it was a situation where they did not receive adequate care, socialization, or hygiene.

Yodi might be your next rescue dream girl. She will certainly require someone dedicated to healing her traumatized heart.

She adores all dogs, both those in her clan and not. She approaches new dogs submissively and showers them with kisses.

Yodi is a sweet girl at heart, and also a challenging case.

Yodi has recently become very reluctant to even leave the shelter, balking hard when invited to go outside for walks. When we do manage to coax her out into the sunshine, sadly she does her best to high-tail it back to her kennel like a barn-shy pony. At the moment, she seems to regard her kennel as her safe space.

Our dog whisperers can normally coax fearful dogs in fairly short order, letting them know they are safe and loved; Yodi has somewhat resisted our charms thus far. Her journey with us has been pretty unusual in that sense. Yodi will thus need a pretty unusual adopter to offer her the chance at a happy, secure life.

She would probably do best in a home with another dog companion to comfort her. She'll certainly need time and patience to allow her to adjust and trust in her new family and environment. Our guess is that it won't be quick or easy, but the sweetness that peeks out from behind the worry in her eyes tells us that she has the potential to be worth the effort.

Yodi is spayed and can go home with you right away.

She has not had potty training, but she does keep her inner kennel clean. Though we can't make guarantees, that's a good sign.

We do not have info on her attitude toward cats at this time.

As always, a meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
