Yoda's Story

Yoda- Adult- Male
~6 years old
~24 inches from floor to top of shoulders
I am excited to find my new forever loving home.

My foster mom tells me I am the perfect doggy package.
I love my walks, I have no reaction to cars, passing bikes, other animals we have seen or heard, or humans walking by (with the exception of one person with walking sticks). I am about 90% perfect at no leash pulling and easy to correct if I do forget.

Though I have not had the opportunity to play or be in close contact with other dogs, I do pass a lot on our walks and am polite about it. I do sometimes give out a slight wine passing some dogs that I really want to smell.

I think I would do well with a dog sibling to play with as long as introduction is done properly.

My mom has a cat and I’m okay with her now. Mom didn’t introduce me to the cat at first. She allowed me to get use to my new home and people first, otherwise, I think I would have been overwhelmed. Don’t really care if the cat is around or not now. We both stay pretty neutral with each other.
I’ve met lots of children 5 years and up in age and they are all lovely and kind to me. They are fun to hang around. I have never been around little children yet but I think I’d be okay.

I am very intelligent and enjoy learning new things. I know my new name, I sit on command, my recall is good (I practice that and other new commands every day). I love the game seek and find. I stay in one room and mom hides treats all over in another room. Then i get to sniff them out and eat them.
I do not bark at the mail man, or the doorbell, or people who knock at door and come in to visit with us, and Indon’t bark at other dogs that pass by. In fact, I really don’t bark at all.
When left alone (so far no more than 4 hours at a time), I have free range of the house and have been good every time.
I love my cuddles on the couch or floor with any human that will give them to me. I do have a kennel with the door open at all times and will go in it voluntarily once in awhile but prefer to be around humans. I have never been locked in the kennel so i’d have to say if this is something my new family would need from me, they would have to slowly introduce me to this routine in a positive way so that i learn to love it.
I’m not fully understanding what to do with toys but my mom practices with me every day throwing a ball and i think i’m catching on a bit where i run after the ball, touch it and then run around being silly.
I also love car rides. Can’t wait to jump in and see where we’re going. Sometimes it’s to Dairy Queen for a doggy ice cream cone.

I have one (slightly naughty) habit where if Im playing outside and i get a bit over excited i will sometimes grab the humans’ hand. I dont mean it in a mean way but my foster mom is trying to teach me that it’s not a nice thing to do and redirect my excitement to a ball or toy. Hopefully this will work for me in time. If not, maybe a dog trainer could give me some good suggestions.

Well that’s me in a nutshell. I know my foster mom could brag about me all day because she really thinks I am the best ever. Most of all, she wants me to find a home that will always treat me with kindness, play with me, take me
for walks, give me pets and hugs, and never think of me as anything less than part of the family.

Those are my foster mom’s wishes for me so if you think you might be that person or family, I would love to meet you and maybe you could be my forever.

Patiently waiting,
YODA

Adoption fee is $295. He is microchipped, dewormed, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations.

New Hope Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
New Hope Dog Rescue is a registered non-profit and foster-based organization that has been rescuing and rehoming dogs in need since 2003. To provide a safe, foster-based environment for neglected and unwanted dogs, while promoting the human animal bond through education and community outreach. All of the dogs who join our program are partnered with loving and dedicated foster parents who open their homes to these animals in need. Foster families also help provide the care the dogs require until they can be matched with adoptive, permanent homes. Every dog receives proper medical care while with New Hope. This will range from the basics (vaccinations, deworming, microchip, spay/neuter), while others will require more extensive care (anything from dental work, to corrective surgery, to treatment of skin conditions). We rely on donations and support from the community to allow us to cover these medical expenses and to carry out and continue our mission. We are always in need of adopters, foster homes, donors and volunteers. To learn more, visit our website at www.newhoperescue.org Since the organization was founded, New Hope has found loving homes for over 4000 dogs! That is 4337 dogs given a better chance at life, 40337 dogs that had no hope before that were given a new hope and a new chance. In the first year (2003) 29 dogs were adopted into loving homes, now we average 250 dogs a year. This would not be possible without the amazing support of our community and loving families that open their hearts and homes to a dog in need. Whether it is fostering, volunteering, adopting, donating- it makes a world of difference for these dogs and thank you to everyone that has helped make our first 20 years as successful as it has been. Why adopt from New Hope? All of our dogs are health-checked by a veterinarian, and are up to date on needed vaccinations All dogs are micro chipped- a permanent identification for your dog Dogs over 5 months old are spayed/neutered If something unforeseen happens and you cannot keep your dog, New Hope will take the dog back into our foster care program- we will always be here for our adopted dogs. Our dogs live in home environments as a member of the family, which gives us a great sense of what they will be like in your home as well! This also helps ensure that they are well socialized. Most importantly, you save a life! Why foster for New Hope? New Hope provides all the needed supplies to foster including, but not limited to; food, leash, collar, crate, toys and bowls. Training support, obedience classes and daycare hours are also provided. On top of all this any medical care that is required, vaccinations, micro chipping, spay/neuters and anything else that the dog needs well in New Hope’s care is covered! If you have a vacation coming up, we can accommodate that too. What we ask of you is to provide a safe, loving and warm home for a dog in need of a temporary place to stay while awaiting adoption. Most importantly, you save a life! Why donate to New Hope? At any given time New Hope has 50-60, sometimes as many as 100 foster dogs in our care. As you can imagine vet care for this amount of dogs is very expensive. Your donations help to pay for routine vet care such as needed vaccinations and spay/neuter, but they also help with special cases that need diagnostics, surgery and potentially rehab. Check out our Guardians of Hope page at http://www.newhoperescue.org/guardians-of-hopeto see the current list of dogs in need of a little extra love and attention.
