He was scared, feral, and constantly on the run. Then one day, tragedy struck — he was hit by a car. In unimaginable pain and with no one to help, he began chewing off his own leg. <br/><br/>Rescuers knew he needed urgent help, but he was too fearful to approach. He had to be darted just to be captured and brought to safety. That was three years ago. Since then, this incredible boy has been healing — not just physically, but emotionally.<br/><br/>And oh, how he’s blossomed.<br/><br/>Today, Yardstick is a sassy, spoiled king who:<br/> Loves lounging in his crate — his safe haven<br/>Tells you (loudly!) when he wants dinner or outdoor time<br/>Navigates life on 3 legs like a pro<br/>Even allows the vet to trim his nails now (a HUGE milestone!)<br/>Gets along with other chill pups who respect his space — he was likely bullied while on the streets, so he appreciates calm company.<br/><br/>His one big hurdle? The leash. He’s still terrified of being tethered, so he’ll need a home with a secure, fenced yard and someone patient and understanding to help him slowly overcome that fear.
