Xolo's Story

Meet Xolo!

This precious young girl is between 1 and 2 years old and weighs 52 pounds. She was found in a cold barn with her five babies. Thankfully she and her pups made their way to Save a Lab to live a better life. Xolo’s babies have all found their homes and now she is ready to jump right into a family that will love and appreciate her sweetness!

Xolo has been in two foster homes, and both give her glowing reports! As expected in a young Lab, she has lots of energy and loves to retrieve. As long as you are willing to throw a ball for her, she will bring the ball back for another toss! She enjoys all manner of dog toys, especially if they squeak; but make them tough because she does like to see how fast she can tear them up!

Xolo also knows how to chill. According to her foster mom, she has two speeds – full on and off. She is great with other dogs and will play hard. Sometimes she gets a little rough but will respond well to the other dog wanting to slow it down. Both foster homes have had cats, and Xolo also wants to play with them. Any home with cats needs to be aware she will chase a cat and try to engage, sometimes obsessively. She won’t hurt a cat, but she would not be a fit for most!

Xolo will counter surf if food is accessible. Like a lot of Labs, she is always looking for food. When she finishes her meals, she will try to help the other dogs with their dinner so it would be best to feed her separately.

Xolo is a super smart girl who has even taught herself to open the sliding glass door in her foster’s home. She does respond to basic cues and wants to learn the rules. She listens very intently and, in an adorable manner, will cock her head to the side struggling to understand what you want from her!

Xolo has not been crated while in rescue and aside from occasionally stealing something off the counter, this hasn’t presented a problem.

This girl has been a real hit in her foster homes! She is smart, fun, playful, and good in social situations. Xolo needs a home with plenty of space to run and play and people to shower her with affection. She loves sleeping in bed next to her people and is a perfect angel all night.

Xolo only barks when she has something to say! She has been around people and children of all ages and is loving and kind. She does have a very happy tail that might be too much for tiny tots but just about any age will be lucky to add her to their home. If you are looking for a precious dog to add to your home to take on adventures and shower with affection, Xolo is your girl!

Xolo will be available for adoption on, or after, January 30th, 2026

If you are interested in Xolo and are an approved adopter, please contact your Adoption Coordinator to be added to Xolo’s list. If you are a not yet approved, you can find our adoption guidelines and application at: www.savealabrescue.org

Xolo is fostered in RI
