Xena didn't always have that name.

Before she was Xena... she was Rachel.
A name on a list no dog should ever be on - the euthanasia list.

In February 2024, her time was almost over.
No one was coming. No one was choosing her.

But we did.

Two months later, in April, she left with a family.
She walked out of the shelter doors... into what we hoped would be forever.

For a while, it looked like it was.

Until December 2025...
when the message came back.

Not angry. Not careless.
Just... heavy.

A family who tried.
A dog who tried.
And a life that didn't quite fit.

Xena struggled to find her place in a busy home - with other dogs, with cats, with everything constantly moving around her.
She needed something different. Something quieter. Something more hers.

The breaking point came when she went after a cat.
And just like that... the trust shifted.

And love... wasn't enough to make it work.

Xena struggled to find her place in a busy home - with other dogs, with cats, with everything constantly moving around her.
She needed something different. Something quieter. Something more hers.

The breaking point came when she went after a cat.
And just like that... the trust shifted.

And love... wasn't enough to make it work.

So she came back.

Not because she wasn't loved.
But because sometimes love means admitting... it's not the right place.

And now here she is again.

Still the same Xena.

Sweet.
Energetic.
Eager to please.
The kind of dog who listens, who learns, who just wants to get it right.

She walks beautifully on a leash.
She plays tug-of-war like
