WYATT $425's Story
Meet Wyatt — the puppy who can’t hear you… but will love you louder than any bark ever could.

Hi friend… my name is Wyatt, and I’m a 6–7-month-old Heeler mix with a speckled coat, a soft heart, and a story that makes people stop and look twice. I’m about 37 pounds — sturdy enough for adventures, but still the perfect size for scooping up into a hug.

I was born deaf.
But please hear me anyway — I am not broken.
I am not less.
I am simply different… and maybe even a little more special because of it.

I may not hear the world, but I feel it — the footsteps of the people I love, the vibrations of excitement when playtime starts, and the warmth of gentle hands scratching behind my ears. I’ve learned to understand life through watching, feeling, and connecting. You don’t need to speak for me to know I matter to you… just look at me, and my whole body will light up.

I’m smart. Really smart.
I’ve learned hand signals quickly, I follow routines like a champ, and I use an e-collar for recall when I’m exploring. My deafness doesn’t slow me down — it just makes me more tuned in to you.

I’m also an excellent student.
I go to a first-grade classroom every day with my foster mom, where eighteen little humans have proudly become “Wyatt’s Kids.” I sit for story time, nap under desks, take gentle hugs like a pro, and soak up more love in an hour than some puppies get in a week. I can’t hear their giggles — but I feel every ounce of their joy.

Potty training? Got it.
Dog friends? Love them.
People? My whole world.
At about 37 pounds, I’m the perfect mix of strong, playful puppy energy and soft, snuggly sweetness.

Now I’m waiting — hoping — for a family who sees beyond my quiet world and wants to be part of it.
A family who understands that deaf dogs don’t need pity… just patience, consistency, and love.
Someone who will help me keep learning hand signals, keep me safe with a fenced yard or leash, and celebrate all the unique ways I communicate.

If you choose me, I won’t hear your voice calling my name —
but I will feel your kindness.
Your steady presence.
Your love.
And I will bond to you with a depth that only a dog like me can offer.

I’m Wyatt.
I’m perfect in my own way.
And I’m listening — with my heart — for the family who’s meant for me.

If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- (SEE PINNED POST) and submit an application. Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. Inaccuracies and/or incomplete data will delay and/or cancel your application. We strive to process all applications in a timely manner, but with the high volume of applications we are receiving, it is taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Submitting an application and receiving an approval does not guarantee you will be adopting the dog you applied for. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home. Meet and greets take place at our adoption center located in New Berlin. If you are proceeding with adopting a Lucky Mutt, we will require the dog to have a Martingale collar at the time of adoption, to ensure the dogs safety during the transition to a new home.

Current Adoption Fees Are:
$425+tax for puppies to 3 years old
$375+tax for ages 4-7
$275+tax for ages 8 and up
Bonded pairs vary

The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, general deworming, heartworm test, (if over 6 months) and a certified veterinary inspection. Please be aware, listed dog breeds are based on information provided and cannot be guaranteed. Submitting an application for a particular dog does not guarantee that you will be the applicant chosen, we receive several applications for each dog. Our adopters are picked based on the needs of the dog, and the home we feel with best fit based on your responses to our application, vet information and landlord requirements. Approved applicants not chosen for the dog you applied for, will be in active status for a period of six months. We encourage you to watch Petfinder, Facebook and our website for upcoming dogs. Should you see a dog that interests you, please send us a Facebook message or an email with your approval number. Please be patient with us, as Lucky Mutts Rescue is run strictly by volunteers and many of us work full time jobs, have families and also foster dogs. Thank you for considering Lucky Mutts Rescue for your next furry family member!
