Wookie's Story
Hi Everyone!
My name is WOOKIE. I know, I’m super cute right!?? People tell me I look like an Ewok from Star Wars, but my friends at Rhodie’s believe I am a Havanese around 2 yrs old weighing approximately 11 lbs.
I was dumped out of a car by someone and ran scared for several days until my rescue pals came to help! I was terrified of them at first, but once they caught me and I realized they were nice, I was sooo happy! They told me I had to wait for a legal stray hold then they could get me all fixed up and help me find a great new home… Well I’m ready and excited to meet my new family, so let me tell you a little bit about me!
I am very playful! I love playing in the yard with balls, squeakies and even tug-a-war. I love going on walks and I’m good on leash, but I’m a fast walker who is very interested in everything, so you’ll need to be able to keep up with me! A Secure Harness is a must for me always too, because I can be a flight risk when I get frightened or startled. No off leash activities for me otherwise you may never see me again!
I am crate trained and sleep quietly through the night. My foster Mom keeps a belly band on me in the house and says for the most part the belly bands are dry when she takes them off, but she can’t be 100% certain that I am fully housetrained (especially if I’m left alone in the house with no supervision).
So far I’ve been good with the other small dogs in my foster home, I just don’t like when new dogs get ‘in my face’ when I’m meeting them. I think I would like to have another doggie friend in my new home.
I DO NOT like cats though! I go crazy screaming, barking and will chase them anywhere! It doesn’t matter if they are indoor or outdoor it is game on when I see them!
I can be a little apprehensive meeting new people and do not like when new people go to reach out to pet me… I prefer them to let me get acquainted with them first and then I’m happy to engage when I’m comfortable with them.
I do not have any experience with kids and my first reaction to meeting a 7 yr old dog savvy girl made my Rhodie’s friends think I may have had some bad past experiences with kids(?)…so they think my new home should not have any young children. Teenagers should be fine though.
I’m quite fussy about dog food. I don’t do the normal am/pm feedings. I prefer a bowl in my crate and I will graze through the night. I’m not treat motivated at all, but I do love real chicken. Possibly I was only given table scraps in my previous home(?)
Well, that’s me! Hope to meet my new family soon!!
My adoption fee is $500 which includes health examination, current vaccinations, neuter, microchip, flea and deworming treatment along with any other medical or dental deemed necessary by our veterinarian.
