Woody's Story

WOODY IS THE ULTIMATE ADVENTURE BUDDY!!!

Woody is a 3 year old, shepherd/husky mix. He is partially blind. After patient introductions, Woody gets along with other dogs who are of a similar energy!

You’ve got a friend in Woody! He is a goofy, affectionate and bashful soul. He loves to cuddle and give smooches, as well as to romp with his foster-mates. He needs a confident owner, who is patient and understanding, but looks forward to physical affection. For a partially-blind Shepsky, Woody’s recall skills are impressive. He responds to his name, happy words, claps and whistles. His fosters recognized his only undoing related to recall is the potential for him to become discombobulated (likely due to his blindness) and following his other scents instead.

It’s clear that Woody is desperate for love, and to please. He will sulk when corrected but don’t worry, he’ll forgive you :)

Woody has received “rave reviews” from all who have met him, including his veterinarian, whom poked and prodded at him, without a peep or ounce of resistance.

Woody would benefit from a home with another dog; specifically a canine pal of similar age and energy. His former foster siblings were a 1.5 y/o, female mini Aussie (35 lbs) and a 12 y/o male Aussie/German Shepherd mix (60 lbs). He has adapted to both personalities extremely well.

Woody needs slow introductions to new dogs. He does well after initial meetings and play; however, likely due to his visual impairment, he can be abrasive at first. With direct oversight, positive reinforcement and trust, he overcomes this quickly.
