Woody's Story
To adopt please fill out an adoption http://www.happydogrescue.org/Application595.html

Be sure to watch his video! Woody is a handsome 18mo male German Shepherd Dog mix who was left homeless in Memphis when his family was deported. Thankfully, a neighbor agreed to take him in to foster while he awaits adoption. Woody has the typical GSD temperament… he’s very cautious with strangers, sometimes growls, but never aggressive, just wary and protective. But after Woody gets to know you, he’s very friendly and playful. Good with other dogs, living peacefully with several Chihuahuas in his foster home. Not recommended for cats because he likes to chase the cats in his foster home, just in play but the cats don’t appreciate it! Fine with kids, Woody was gentle with the young child in his original family. Housebroken and crate trained. Medium-high energy level outside, quiet and well-mannered in the house. Woody is not obedience trained and, like all shepherds, he would benefit from training. Loves to be with his people. Good on a leash, rides great in the car. Estimated DOB is August 2024. Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots, neutered, weighs about 60 pounds. AWESOME young GSD mix will make a wonderful companion (and jogging partner!) for an active family who loves the breed, has time and inclination to continue his training so he can reach his full potential.

Here’s a note from his foster dad: Woody is a great dog and I would keep him myself if I didn’t already have 3 dogs and 5 cats! He loves to go for walks and is always interested in meeting new dogs during our walks and is very respectful of other dogs. My cats won’t have anything to do with Woody because he chases them wanting to play; I don’t believe he would hurt the cats but they’re not interested in playing with him. I was told that when Woody was a puppy, the family had a cat that he played with. He’s very energetic, loves to run and play, needs an active family. Woody never had any obedience training but I’ve been working with him some since he’s been with me and he’s improving on the jumping and the pulling. He’s a sweet, loving dog.

To adopt please fill out an adoption http://www.happydogrescue.org/Application595.html

Contact us at reply@happydogrescue.org

Visit us at http://www.happydogrescue.org
