His previous owners could no longer give him the best life and was surrounded to Speak almost 2 years ago. Since then, him and his sibling Hayes have moved on to their second boarding/foster situation. Previously thought that his sibling and him were bonded, since being here we found that isn’t the case.

Woody takes a bit to warm up to new people. It took about 2 weeks in a non home environment for him to warm up to me. I would consider him slightly undersocialized with dogs and people. He has done great drive separating him and his sibling. He's been in my basement since then, which gives him a bit more of a home feel. He would prefer to follow me everywhere and if I'm stationary long enough, he will just lay down.

He craves structure and lots of head rubs. Enjoys chewing on sticks and some toys. Not super into chasing a ball or the flirt pole. His previous foster used to run with him. I however do not run, unless I have too.

Woody has been able to take food from volunteers and has very little reactivity with the right communication. Like most GSD's he will bark at unfamiliar people behind a barrier(fence, door, etc), it is short lived and he will go into an extended sit.

Woody would do well with someone experienced with GSD's. An active lifestyle with room to run and roam would be ideal. Untested with cats and small animals. Might do well with another established female dog. Would need proper introductions though.

Woody also LOVES to swim!

Woody comes with 3 FREE 1-1 training sessions from Wolfman's Canines , and a $1000 training voucher towards the purchase of a 4 week extended Board and Train, which also includes 3 additional 1-1 sessions.

***PLEASE READ*** WE DO NOT RESPOND TO PETFINDER OR EMAIL INQUIRIES. Speak for the Unspoken's Adoption Policy
Before completing our online application please read the following: Our adoption process involves multiple steps and it typically takes up to 2 weeks from the time we receive your application to the time your adoption is finalized. We reserve the right to deny any application without explanation. All of our dogs and/or puppies are in foster homes. We do not schedule “Meet and Greets” without an approved application. Our Adoption Fees start at $325 per dog, $75 per cat or kitten. We can adopt an animal ‘out of state’, but you must be willing to travel to where the pet is being fostered, and transport the animal yourself after the adoption. If you have other animals (dogs/cats) in your home, they must be up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm testing and prevention (dogs), and spayed/neutered. We will verify this with your veterinarian. If your animals are not up to date, your application will be denied. Please make sure to fully complete your application; leaving questions blank or not including all requested information will delay your application. Once your online application is submitted, it can take our volunteers 5 to 7 business days to process it. If we have questions about your application, we will email you. Please make sure to add our email, adopt@speakfortheunspoken.com to your email so our messages do not end up in your spam folder! Once your application is approved by the processors, it is sent to the person fostering the dog you have applied for. They will make the decision on whether the animal that you applied for is the right fit for you and your home. They may also choose to initially contact you via email or phone. If you do not respond promptly to their email or phone call, they will move on to the next applicant. Your application will be saved on file for 1 year and will be used for all dogs you would be interested in that time-frame. No need to keep filling out applications! Adoption application approval means you are approved to adopt an animal from us, it does not mean you are necessarily approved for the animal you applied for. There may be specific circumstances in your home that do not make it a good fit for one animal, but it may be a fine fit for another.
