Witness's Story

Age: 2+ years
Size: 55 lbs
Good with: older kids, dogs.

Witness entered the shelter as an owner surrender after being kept for just two weeks. The environment was overwhelming for him, and the stress caused him to become sick with CIRDC. With his time running out, we rescued Witness just hours before he was scheduled to be euthanized.

Now safe and healing, Witness is an affectionate couch potato who simply wants to be near his people. He loves cuddling, enjoys car rides, and walks nicely on leash. However, he is still very much a diamond in the rough. He can be fearful when approached too quickly, especially when he’s being leashed to go outside, and will give a warning growl to communicate his discomfort. He views certain items like toys and food as scarce resources and will attempt to guard them. The good news is that after just one week in foster care, and with the opportunity to decompress, his foster parent has made noticeable progress in mitigating his insecurities and fearfulness.

Witness would thrive in a calm, low-key home with patient adopters who are willing to work with positive reinforcement trainers to set him up for success. In return, he’ll offer unwavering loyalty, soft cuddles, and a grateful heart.

Witness is fostered in Brooklyn, NY, and is available for local or out-of-state adoption as long as the adopter can travel to meet him. To get the adoption process started, please send us an application at https://bit.ly/rosr-adopt-foster.
