Winter's Story
Everyone, meet Winter — a tiny soul with a giant heart and a story that deserves the happiest of endings. 🤍

When Winter came to us, she was just 4.5 pounds of matted fur, fear, and quiet uncertainty. Discarded and frightened, this sweet little Maltese likely spent much of her 11 years confined to a crate, unseen and unheard. What she endured before rescue, we may never fully know — but what we do know is how incredibly gentle, loving, and resilient she is.

Winter is deaf and never barks. Instead, if she needs you and thinks you may have forgotten about her, she makes the softest little sound and patiently waits. It’s as if she’s learned not to ask for too much — and that alone will melt your heart.

She is healthy, up to date on her vet care, and has a luxating patella, which is very common in small dogs. It doesn’t slow her down at all — she still happily trots around the yard, does joyful little laps through the house, and only shows it slightly when squatting to potty. Her spirit is strong, and her love for her newfound freedom is beautiful to witness.

Winter adores wandering until she finds the perfect soft bed to rest her head. She could walk for hours if you let her, then curl up for the coziest nap imaginable. She’s been around other animals and mostly ignores them, content to do her own thing. She’s independent, peaceful, and quietly confident.

Because of her tiny size and past, Winter would do best in a home with children over 10 years old, if any. Her perfect home is a calm, patient one — someone who understands that she’s still learning what it truly means to be a dog. She’s working hard on her potty training and knows to go outside, but consistent potty breaks and gentle guidance will help her continue to succeed.

Winter doesn’t need perfection. She just needs someone. Someone to love her, protect her, and show her that the rest of her life will be warm, safe, and full of kindness.

If you feel that tug in your heart and believe you could be Winter’s forever home, please email brandithefoster@gmail.com to request an application.

Winter has waited long enough. Could you be the happy ending she’s been dreaming of? 🐾🤍
