WINTER's Story

Meet Winter! Winter isn't a typical border collie, she's extremely affectionate and really quite mellow, and is happy with a walk or some dog play.

This delightful girl has been loving her foster home, where she's had a chance to decompress and learn that new people aren't so scary. She's cautious initially but warms up and melts into a puddle of love once she realizes she's safe. She loves hanging out with the resident dogs (of all ages and sizes!), she's very dog social and would do best in a home with a calm and confident resident dog to show her the ropes.

Here's what her foster mom has to say about Winter:

"Winter is naturally mellow but also playful and incredibly sweet. She loves attention and nose kisses, and will let out funny little howls like she's trying to chat! She does wonderfully with all my dogs including three under 13 pounds, two of which are 8 pound seniors. She's reliably potty trained as long as she's let outside regularly. She's still cautious around strangers but has warmed up to a few of my friends within hours when approached with calm energy, patience, and treats. Her biggest challenge is confidence outside the home. Walks and unfamiliar environments can overwhelm her, though she responds well to verbal redirection. Overall, Winter is a gentle, affectionate girl who thrives with patience and trust. She'd do best with another dog in the home, but she could absolutely thrive as an only dog with someone willing to let her adjust entirely at her own pace."

If you're interested in meeting Winter, apply today to learn more and set up a meet & greet!
