Winnie's Story

Meet Winnie, a beautiful 3-year-old Pit Bull mix who has already come so far. ❤️

When we found Winnie at the shelter, she was absolutely terrified—shaking and curled up in the corner, unsure of the world around her. Sadly, that fear didn’t disappear the moment she was rescued. It translated into fearful behavior, and Winnie needed someone to help her understand that she was finally safe.

Winnie has just completed extensive professional training, and she is doing fantastic. She has made incredible strides, gained confidence, and continues to improve every day. We are so proud of how hard she has worked.

Now Winnie needs a very specific kind of home. She needs an experienced, Pit Bull-savvy owner who understands fearful dogs and can provide the structure, boundaries, love, and discipline she needs to continue succeeding.

We also want to be completely transparent: Winnie is not a dog you’re going to take to dog parks, crowded patios, or Starbucks. And that's okay. Not every dog needs that life to be happy. Winnie needs an owner who understands her limitations, advocates for her, keeps her safe, and gives her a calm, structured life where she can thrive.

In the right hands, Winnie is an incredibly special dog with so much love to give. We know her person is out there—someone who will see how far she has come and be willing to continue the work that has helped her become the dog she is today.

Winnie doesn't need a perfect world. She just needs the right person. ❤️

Big Love Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
Hello and thank you for visiting Big Love Animal Rescue’s Petfinder page. This is the primary page of where all of our available animals are listed for adoption as well as on our instagram. Please note we do NOT have a brick and mortar location where you can meet our animals. All our animals are placed in pre-screened foster homes across LA county until they are adopted. Because we are a small rescue, we are limited on time, resources and manpower; with that, we unfortunately cannot reply to every inquiry while also maintaining our rescue duties. If you're interested in one of our dogs/cats, you must fill out an adoption application on our website in order to be considered. We review every single application submitted, and though we have hundreds of amazing, qualified applicants, we can only choose one applicant per dog. We then reach out to top applicant for a meet and greet. If it is a successful meet and greet, a three day trial is given before an adoption fee and contract is due. A home check is required as well. The adoption fee covers vaccinations to adoption date, microchip and spay/neuter at one of our veterinarians. We note we only adopt out in Southern California due to expenses, logistics and because we want to easily get the dog back if anything goes wrong at any point in their lives.
