Winnie's Story

Winnie is a two(ish) year old Pit Bull Terrier mix that was surrendered to us by her owners. They were unable to care for her due to personal health issues and she grew up in the backyard, never learning how to be a family dog. The family's autistic 4 year old child spent a lot of time with her, though, and she was absolutely amazing with the child. Due to the lack of socialization, sweet Winnie is extremely shy and it takes her a long time to trust anyone. Once she gains your trust, she is the most loving and affectionate dog who only wants to cuddle. She has the sweetest temperament when she is comfortable and wants to be as close to her person as she possibly can. She loves toys and playing fetch, although, she doesn't always bring the toy back! We are diligently working on basic training like walking on leash, simple commands, etc. but everything at a pace she is comfortable with. She would do well with a person or family that can spend a lot of time with her, helping her learn how to trust and exist comfortably in the normal world. Her adopter must understand that she needs a lot of time to adjust and be willing to work with her, at her pace. Please visit our website www.luckysanimalrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
