Winnie's Story
We found Winnie after she spent over a couple weeks at a small shelter in the Central Valley. The officer who found Winnie told us she was in a residential area, and was hard to catch, acting like she was lost and couldn't find her way home. No one claimed Winnie, and she had no chip. With Winnie just sitting in the shelter, we took her into rescue.

Winnie is estimated to be 2 years old. She is 28 pounds. She is a beagle mix. She definitely is mainly beagle. What else, we are not sure -- perhaps corgi. She has the beagle appearance, size, height, shape, and tri-coloring, though. Her ears are a little different, but she's primarily beagle in look and behavior.

Winnie may be shy at first, but warms up once comfortable. She is a very sweet, gentle, and well-behaved dog. She likes to give beagle kisses and licks. Winnie likes to be next to her person, sleep on the bed, and try to wiggle onto a lap so she can be close and snuggle or get more pets. She is housetrained. Winnie rides well in the car and does fine on the leash. While she has not shown much interest in playing yet, she is fine with the other dogs in the house, but less sure of dogs she meets outside. She would make a great loyal, easygoing companion.

Winnie evidently had a home before and now looks for her second chance through Beagle Rescue in time for the holidays.
