Wink's Story

I HAVE BEEN ADOPTED!!!Wink has been spayed, UTD on vacc, heartworm tested negative and on heartworm prevention and has been microchipped. She is finally ready to come home! Wink-another dog with a tale!! Wink was a frightened dog a year ago when a lady found her wedged between some pilings. The tide was coming in and the poor pup couldn't break free. The lady reached down and despite the dog's protests, snatched her from the brink of death. Unfortunately, the terrified Wink lashed out and bit her. The lady dropped her and Wink scrambled off. Throughout the year, the lady and her friend would spot Wink and would throw her food but she never let them get too close. Finally, all of their efforts paid off and they were able to get her and put her in a crate. They called us to see if we could help this poor little girl who had survived for a year in the wild. This pup is remarkable and is actually very sweet once she trusts you. She craves affection and wants to be loved. She is still a bit frightened but has not snapped at us or any of our resident rescues since she has been here. I would not allow her to run free yet as I think that the instinct to bolt may still be there but she does OK on a leash and would do fine with regular walks. I do not think that she would be a good dog for very young children because of her fear but older children or an older, quiet home where she can receive a lot of attention would be good for her. Wink is a doll and deserves a new start in life and to enjoy the comforts of a home.<br/>Wink's adoption fee is $200 and we will take deposits to hold. She is awaiting her spay.
