Wilma's Story
MEET Wilma, a 7-year-old Pit Bull weighing about 50 lbs, with the most adorable petite pittie paws and a face that makes you do a double take. Wilma came to us after her previous owner was no longer able to care for her, and she’s had a lot of change to navigate in a short amount of time.

One important thing to know about Wilma is that kennel life does not show her at her best. In her kennel, she can appear guarded and barky, still trying to make sense of all the noise and activity around her. But once she’s outside — in the play yard or out on a walk — Wilma transforms. She becomes playful, affectionate, and eager to connect, showing off the sweet, fun personality that’s been there all along.

Wilma previously lived with Weston, a big, energetic dog, and handled his rough-and-tumble play style with ease. She enjoys interaction and has shown she can do well with other dogs, though any new dog friendships should be introduced slowly and thoughtfully as she settles into a new home.

Wilma keeps her kennel tidy and is doing her very best in an environment that can be overwhelming for many dogs. She’s a girl who thrives with space, patience, and a chance to be seen for who she truly is — a loyal, playful companion with plenty of love left to give. If you’re willing to look past the kennel door, Wilma just might surprise you.

She has been spayed and microchipped. She has been brought current on all vaccines, given dewormer, treated with flea and tick prevention, heartworm tested, and started on monthly preventatives.

Apply to adopt here:
https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
