Wilma's Story

Wilma is a 7-year-old Pit Bull weighing about 50 pounds. She came to us after her previous owner was no longer able to care for her, and she’s handled a lot of change in a short amount of time. What’s important to know about Wilma is this: the dog you see in her kennel is not the same dog you’ll meet outside of it.

In her kennel, Wilma can seem guarded and barky—unsure of her surroundings and the people passing by. But once she’s out in the play yard or on a walk, her true personality shines through. She becomes playful, affectionate, and eager to connect. She previously lived with Weston, a big, energetic playmate, and handled his rough-and-tumble style with ease. That said, any new dog friends should be introduced slowly and carefully as Wilma settles into her new life.

Wilma keeps her kennel tidy and is doing her best to adapt to all the changes around her. She will be available for adoption after she is spayed and microchipped. She has been brought current on all vaccines, given dewormer, treated with flea and tick prevention, heartworm tested, and started on monthly preventatives.

Apply to adopt here:
https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
