WILLOW - SMALL DOG ALERT LOCATED IN MAINE's Story
Welcome Back, Sweet WILLOW!

Caleb’s Opus is welcoming WILLOW back into our care—and while this wasn’t the path we hoped for her, we are committed to making sure it becomes the right one.

WILLOW was one of five discarded souls found wandering a remote mountain road in the South—hungry, scared, and completely forgotten. Sadly, their story is all too familiar… dogs thrown away like trash, left to fend for themselves in a world that failed them.

At just 9 weeks old, WILLOW and her siblings arrived with us in September 2025, full of hope and ready to begin their happy lives. While WILLOW was adopted, her placement ultimately wasn’t the right fit—and sometimes love alone isn’t enough without the right structure.

Here’s what we know about WILLOW:

- She loves people
- She loves other dogs
- She knows her basic commands
- She is smart, confident, and determined

WILLOW also has a bit of a bossy streak—not uncommon for a young dog who’s had to survive early uncertainty. She can be stubborn and likes to do things on her terms, which tells us she needs continued positive training, consistency, and leadership to help her feel secure enough to let go of that need to be in charge.

Because of this, WILLOW will be going through additional basic training, and we are looking for a home (or foster-to-adopt) that understands that training isn’t a punishment—it’s a gift. A home willing to guide her, reinforce boundaries, and show her that she is safe, supported, and doesn’t have to run the show anymore.

WILLOW is now 7 months old, weighs about 25 lbs, and we don’t expect her to get much bigger.

She has already survived so much. She doesn’t need perfection—she needs patience, commitment, and someone willing to invest in her future.

Could you be WILLOW’S forever home? Please go to www.calebsopus.org for an application!

All dogs are spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. Note: Caleb's Opus is licensed to adopt in the State of Maine.
