Willow from the East Side's Story

Willow, her six siblings and their Mum Loreya were seen dumbed on the side of the road on the East side of San Antonio, Texas. Luckily the witness rescued them and got them safely to us. They are all happy to be out of the heat and into the mountains!

Willow is an affectionate Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix lover girl (must love Willow kisses) and the total package- brains, braun, beauty, and a whole lot of love to give! She is as sweet as they come and has a gentle, loving personality and a soft, expressive face that will absolutely melt your heart. She loves to run and play, making her a perfect match for an active person who enjoys the outdoors.

Unfortunately she's not the best in crowds so doesn't get to attend our adoption events. That doesn't mean she's not somebody's future best friend (we just hope they're more digitally inclined so they can find her).

Loves water! Who wants to take a bath?

Loves dogs & playing- goes to the dog park daily

Very active- fast quick turns and high jumps

Follows around the house

Loves to be pet

Treat motivated

She also has a calm side- bath time is no problem for this good girl! She handles it beautifully and is very cooperative.

Willow is very responsive, eager to please, and does well following guidance from her people. She's a smart girl who enjoys puzzles, learning and bonding with those around her.

What does she know:

Willow, Uhuh-no, Leave it, Let's go, Kennel, Sit, Down, Paw, Spin, High five, Scoot, and Spanish when spoken by men

Willow is currently working with a trainer as she can become overstimulated and has some leash and barrier aggression. She has a little bit of a stubborn streak, but so much progress has been made. She also has a high prey drive with small animals including rabbits, squirrels, birds and cats.

Willow would thrive in a home that can continue to nurture her confidence and give her the love she deserves. With her gentle nature, intelligence, and love of other dogs, she's going to make an amazing lifelong companion. We recommend someone with experience training dogs, or willing to continue working with our trainer, and who will continually work to stimulate her daily. "She's a great dog, very easy to train, it's just the Shepherd/Heeler genes that really run hard in her "

Mum appears to be a Shepherd mix, pictured last.

Willow has made the journey North from San Antonio, Texas and is being fostered in Denver, available to meet!

Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa.

Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio.
