Meet Willow

Willow: 7-month-old female, Fawn colored coat, docked tail, natural ears.
Meet Miss Willow who got her name due to her slender legs! This lil sweetheart will melt your heart.
She was one of the fortunate dogs that came all the way to us from Florida. Currently being fostered
in Middle Tennessee! She has only been with her foster mom for 10 days so still learning the ropes
but here is what we can share.
She is a nervous lil cutie. She sits and shivers like a chihuahua at the smallest of sounds inside a
home. This very well may be her first experience living in one! She is learning all about things called
washing machines and dishwashers and their obnoxious sounds to those moving things on the
screen of something called TVs. She looks at everything with “unsure” surprise.
With proper introductions, she gets along fabulously with dogs (current foster home as both a male
and female) as well as her foster mom’s kitty. Outside, she is most comfortable, and this is where we
get the privilege to watch her cute fun side override her timid side! She loves to run and play for
DAYSSSSS. Good luck getting her to come in on demand – she thinks everything outside is a GAME.
She follows her foster bro & sis all around and seems to be very eager to learn from them (good and
bad – HA HA). She engages in play with them without any reservations. And would do very well in a
home with dogs to help her feel at ease.

Willow has a need for training in nearly every area, which is expected when you get a dog that hasn’t
been socialized at all. She shuts down when you connect her to a leash, especially on a collar. She
does “better” with a harness. She will go inside a crate with very little prompting. In fact, she seems to
feel comfortable in them but will cower and shake if you approach to try and coax her to come out to
be with the rest of the family/pack. When left alone for more than a couple hours locked in a crate,
she has proven to be an escape artist. She will require an abundance of readily available dog
appropriate chew choices such as bones/toys to help redirect her from chewing people items. She
has had a few accidents in the home however this seems to happen as a response to her fear. When
she is content in the home, she is NOT randomly squatting. She generally does her business outside
like a lady dog should.
The most concerning thing about her (from her foster mom’s perspective) is her extreme sensitivity to
men. She cowers and pees/poo when they approach. On a couple occasions took off running and
tried to squeeze behind things without concern for her own welfare. We are working on helping her
overcome this fear but it is evident it will take some time.
Miss Willow will require a home with a loving family that can offer her a consistent schedule, a
commitment to her training and patience to help her overcome her insecurities. Her fast timid
approaches with her foster mom for affection and offers of quick kisses indicate she desires to trust
people and would love nothing more than an opportunity to be a loved by a great family. Do you have
room for Willow in your big heart and home?!?!? If so, please put in an application!
