Willis is the kind of dog you never forget. Handsome, gentle, and incredibly sweet, this special senior boy has captured the hearts of everyone who’s met him.<br/><br/>Willis was abandoned at a Southern California high-kill shelter on Christmas Eve. A few weeks later, we pulled him out of fear that he would be euthanized simply because there was no room left for him. It’s impossible to understand how anyone could have let such a wonderful dog go.<br/><br/>You would never guess Willis is 10 years old. He still loves going for walks, enjoys car rides, and happily takes in the world around him. He’s wonderful with other dogs, both large and small, and even does well with cats. At the same time, he’s perfectly content simply relaxing near his person and enjoying a quiet, peaceful life.<br/><br/>We’ve taken Willis to several adoption events, and he has been absolutely flawless every single time. He adores people, including children, and everyone who meets him falls in love with his calm and loving nature. People constantly comment on how mellow, easygoing, and well behaved he is.<br/><br/>One of our volunteers recently took Willis home for a sleepover, and he was the perfect houseguest. He settled in beautifully with her dogs, relaxed peacefully outside with the pack, slept through the night, and once again proved what a truly special soul he is.<br/><br/>When Willis first came to us, he was heartbreakingly thin and had painful fly strikes on his ears. Since then, we’ve helped him regain weight, health, and confidence, and now he looks absolutely wonderful. He was recently groomed, and even the groomer commented on what a perfect gentleman he was the entire time.<br/><br/>Willis is currently being cared for here at Second Chance at Love Humane Society, but what he truly deserves is a home of his own. A soft place to land where he will be loved and cherished for the rest of his life.<br/><br/>He is healthy, full of love, and ready to give his whole heart to someone lucky enough to call him family.
