Meet Willa

IMPORTANT NOTE: please do not use the "introduce yourself" option that Petfinder shows
Only those who submit a completed adoption application, after reading our dog's complete profile, as detailed below, will be considered

Willa is a precious 3 yr female blonde Labrador Retriever , a petite Lab at only 52lbs, who joined our rescue through no fault of her own.

She has settled well into her foster home and adores her canine foster friends as well as being good with feline friends.
Willa is still working on her training including leash training skills and is a smart, eager to please girl who adores all humans she has met and wins hearts wherever she goes.

Willa completed all of her vetting, except for her root canal which she is on the wait list for in Guelph with Dr Hale (at our expense)
Dr Hale's surgical wait list is 2023 so we are not going to make her wait for a forever home while she is waiting for this appt for a broken canine tooth.

She is being fostered with other dogs and cats and learning new skills while working on her training.

Willa has fit in so well and has been such a joy to foster. She is a very sweet, low key girl that would do well with other dogs, cats or would also thrive on her own (she loves people!)

NOTE: Willa is a jumper and flight risk-she can easily clear baby gates or shorter garden walls in her foster home and will need to be leashed at all times if in an unfenced yard, or will require a high fence with in person supervision at all times.

She is not a stressed, anxious dog, just very agile and wants to be with her people

Willa's adoption will be with a contractual term to return to our vet specialist in Guelph, at our expense, for repair/removal of a broken canine tooth.
Dental surgeons are booking into 2023 for non urgent appts, and we don't want Willa to have to wait in a foster home that long when she could be settling in and bonding with her forever family

At 3 yrs young, Willa is not suitable for elderly caregivers, she is very active, strong, and as a healthy dog, may live up to 10-15 more years.
Older seniors make great pet parents but we recommend matching up with senior pets as well, to ensure that our dogs do not have to go through yet another transition/change of homes if their caregivers become unable to care for them in later years.

She needs a home with a family dedicated to her ongoing training, and someone who will give her all of the attention she craves, where she is not left alone all day.

Notes:
*Inground Pools and ponds must be separately fenced from yard
*Owned or rented homes welcome with landlord's permission
* This dog requires a secure fenced yard

Hobo Haven is located in St Jacobs Ontario.
For approved families, we require two in person meetings in St Jacobs ON after your application has been approved.

If you are not willing to drive to this location to meet our dogs after you are approved, please do not apply. We do not meet elsewhere nor deliver dogs and do not permit meetings until our screening process has been completed.

If you are interested in applying to adopt a dog from Hobo Haven Rescue, please use this link to submit an application https://hobohavenrescue.ca/dog-adoption-application

Willa's adoption fee is a minimum donation of $550
Her adoption fee is only a tiny fraction of our expenses for all vetting, her upcoming dental surgery and care expenses provided during their time with us.

Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal testing, dentals if required, deworming if needed, Heartworm and Tick disease testing, bloodwork, Advantage prevention, and all medical treatments and surgeries required during their time with us.

For anyone possibly interested in adopting from Hobo Haven, here are a few, but not all, criteria to be aware of:

We require all serious applicants to watched "Petfooled" which is a free documentary at this link https://tubitv.com/movies/494913/pet-fooled

Our motto is "know better/do better" and we ask all adoptive families to be as committed to providing our dogs with quality nutrition as they are to providing love. This documentary is not advertising, purely just educational.

An adoption application must be completed and approved, as well as a virtual home visit (Zoom during COVID), prior to meeting available dogs. All dogs are placed in loving foster homes during their time with us, we do not have a shelter to visit.

We do not allow applicants to visit until pre-approved for adoptions. All dogs are in private foster family homes, not a facility.

Any questions may be emailed to hobohavenpetrescue@gmail.com

Please do not ask us to make exceptions, we set these protocols and policies for the dog's best interests which are always our highest priority.

Emails are best, our volunteers work full time and are often not able to answer or return phone calls in a timely manner.
