Willa's Story

Meet Willa - A Brave Heart Learning to Trust
Willa is a beautiful 2.5-year-old black Shepherd mix whose journey has been one of quiet courage and growth. During the first five months of her life, Willa had little to no human contact beyond being provided food, which left her naturally anxious and wary around people.
Because of her early experiences, Willa can be fearful of strangers and is sensitive to touch. She needs time, patience, and a gentle approach to feel safe. But here's the wonderful part of her story-since moving into her foster home, Willa has made meaningful progress. With the help of her five foster dog siblings, she has learned that humans can be kind and predictable, and she continues to gain confidence every day.
Willa does very well with other dogs and truly looks to them for comfort and guidance. For this reason, she will do best in a home with at least one confident, friendly dog who can help her continue building trust. She appears to be house-trained, walks nicely on leash, and even enjoys swimming.
Willa is not the kind of dog who will be everyone's instant best friend-but for the right person, she will be incredibly special. She's looking for a calm, patient home with someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let her move at her own pace.
With kindness, consistency, and a canine companion by her side, Willa will continue to blossom into a loyal and devoted partner.
If you believe that the best bonds are built slowly and with heart, Willa might be the one for you.

Palm Springs Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
ADOPTION The Compassionate Choice. Choosing to adopt an animal rather than buying from a breeder or pet shop is the easiest and best thing you can do to help reduce the number of unwanted pets. Shelters across the country are filled with wonderful dogs and cats looking for safe, loving homes. Each and every one of them deserves to be loved. Bringing a new animal into your home is a big decision. We ask all potential adopters or "guardians" to complete a comprehensive questionnaire and then meet with one of our trained adoption counselors who will help find the right pet for your lifestyle. Because your new pet is an important part of your family, we encourage you to bring ALL family members in to meet him or her, including your dog(s) if you are considering adopting one of shelter dogs. The adoption fees range from $50-$100 for a cat and $100-$180 for a dog. This low fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, a registered micro-chip, and a wellness-exam.
