Wilkins 's Story

Wilkins

Age: 2yrs

Weight: 41lbs

Sex: male, neutered

Meet Wilkins (aka your future water-obsessed bestie) 💦🐾

Wilkins is a 2-year-old, 41lb black-and-white pittie with a personality somewhere between “cool independent guy” and “absolute backyard chaos goblin (in the best way).”

This dude LOVES water. Kiddie pool? Obsessed. Water bucket? Fair game. Puddle? Don’t mind if he does. He’s been known to turn a simple drink into a full splash zone production—10/10 entertainment, maybe 4/10 for keeping things dry.

Social but not clingy, Wilkins is the kind of dog who will bounce over for some neck scratches and lean into you like a total sweetheart, then wander off to do his own thing like he’s got important business to attend to (it’s usually sniffing). In playgroups, he’s a certified rockstar with 50+ under his belt, showing off his love for rough-and-rowdy wrestling and chase games. He’s actually been our go-to helper dog for just about everything—from nervous, fearful pups to over-the-top puppies still figuring out how to dog. Because of that, he’d absolutely thrive with a playful canine sibling who can keep up and show him the ropes in a home.

Wilkins came to us from a cruelty case, but you’d never know it by the way he throws himself into joy—especially if water is involved. These days, he’s all about soaking up the good life and just needs a family to keep that going. Energy-wise, he sits right in that sweet spot—he can relax and chill in his kennel or yard, but he’s always ready to jump into playtime with dogs or his people. He walks with a little enthusiasm on leash but stays neutral and easygoing when being handled, like during harnessing.

He’s also full of quirky charm—his bark has been lovingly compared to a goose, and once you hear it, you won’t un-hear it. And yes, he does have a bit of a love story going on at the shelter, complete with pool dates, swimming sessions, and plenty of kisses with his favorite gal named Samoa.

*To fill out an adoption application for Wilkins, click 'visit our profile page', then under 'adoption policy' click the 'adoption application' button!
