Waverly's Story

Meet Waverly! Waverly came to us in early March 2024 with an unknown injury to her front leg. We didn't know anything about what was going on except that she wasn't putting any weight on her leg. Puppy or not, in a shelter that doesn't allow any public adoptions an injury of any sort can be a death sentence. Other than not using her leg, Waverly was a happy, loving girl so we really didn't expect her x-rays to look as bad as they did - a broken elbow right through the growth plate! After consulting multiple vets and surgeons, including Auburn University, everyone agreed the best course of action for her long term health and happiness would be amputation. Amputation surgery barely slowed Waverly down at all and now she's completely recovered and happier than ever! Waverly just turned a year old just before Thanksgiving 2024 and doesn't even remember life before she lost her leg. She's great with dogs of all sizes. As a matter of fact, she's great with everyone! This girl truly has never met a stranger! Interested in adopting? Rescue Me Ga Inc's Adoption Policy

We have an application process that we require for any adoption. The application can be found on our website at www.rmgdogs.org - its the first step in our process and required before we set up a time for you to meet the dog you are interested in …. ALL of our dogs are completely vetted - all vaccines - spay or neuter - dewormings - chip - heart worm tested and treated if needed and ready to be loved. WE are foster based which means our dogs are in homes or temporary boarding when we rescue them -- we know their personalities and what would be their best fit! Our dogs come from a rural Georgia shelter and often we take in surrenders from families facing difficult situations….. WE do post many dogs still in need at animal control as well as all who have been saved already that are in foster homes. We do NOT operate a facility where you can visit the dogs unless you contact us to possibly meet one already in a foster

RESCUE ME GEORGIA is a 501c3 non profit rescue group dedicated to saving dogs from a small rural shelter and county outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Since our start November of 2011, we have saved more than 5000 animals in need and have been able to be a part of so many lives changed!
