Walter's Story

Walter is a 13-year-old Chihuahua-mix who was found as a stray in Attleboro. He has been with us since February and is now ready to find a great home.

He weighs 15 pounds and has such a sweet, silly personality. Walter loves napping in cozy beds and will roll around on his back when he finds a fluffy blanket. He's happily coexisted with all the other dogs at the rescue. While he's pretty independent, he also loves being part of the group. He doesn't mind being picked up and allows us to put sweaters or coats on without issue.

At the shelter, Walter was vomiting after meals. An ultrasound revealed that he has a slow digestive system. He was prescribed a low-fat diet and medication that he takes 30 minutes before eating to aid in digestion. Walter was also diagnosed with stage B1 mitral valve disease, meaning a heart murmur is present but no enlargement is detected on the echocardiogram. He does not currently need medication for his heart, but will need repeat scans to monitor his heart disease. He also recently had a dental surgery, and all but one tooth was removed.

Walter is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and recently had full blood work.

If you're interested in adopting this sweet boy, please submit an application at: https://www.vintagepetrescue.org/adopt
