Walter's Story
Walter had the misfortune of being born (September 2021) when everyone felt they needed a dog – and of course anything “doodle” was prized. From puppyhood on, his story is sketchy. Animatch knows that he spent one week in his last home with a well-meaning family who had zero experience. At least they found him a safe place to land, and surrendered him to Animatch

It was obvious that Walter needed more than we could provide him. He was much too mouthy and had triggers that made him reactive. Thankfully, *FIC came to the rescue and have been working hard to get Walter back on track and make up for a tumultuous past life. He is learning that mouth contact is not the way to get attention and he is improving his social skills every day.

Walter possesses heart-stopping good looks and no doubt every one of his “families” thought that they had a new “best friend”. However, it takes a lot of determination, patience, and work to transform a puppy into a good canine citizen. Everyone knows that through a dog’s adolescence, you may always love them, but sometimes you don’t like them very much. Walter required a lot of educating and sadly he received none.

Virginie Forest and the students at FIC believe that he has the potential of being someone’s best friend although there is still work to do. Whoever adopts Walter must understand that training does not end when they walk out the door of FIC; it must be part of his future and everyday life. In addition to formal training, it can also be woven into daily life and all family members must be on board and of the same mind.

Like all dogs, he can continue to learn and improve his behaviour indefinitely. Continued guidance, training, and the right amount of exercise will reward you with a healthy and harmonious relationship with this handsome dog. He definitely requires an experienced adult family who are ready to commit to helping him be all that he can be.
