Walt Chihuahua & Rat Terrier Mix Bethel, CT

Walt, a six-year-old, 23lb. chi/rat terrier mix entered the shelter as an owner surrender along with his four siblings after their owner passed away. Walt sat idly by and watched as all his siblings were quickly adopted right before Christmas. Due to his age and a prior injury, he sat there for weeks waiting for someone to be his hero and save him. We couldn’t leave this sweet old man behind so we scooped him up and brought him into our rescue where he is now in a loving foster home.

This handsome boy has the sweetest face and cutest ears you’ll ever see! Walt loves nothing more than being with his people so if you’re looking for a well-mannered buddy, this guy is for you! He likes to romp around the yard and play but is also happy to be a couch potato and relax alongside you. Walt is a very good doggie – he’s housetrained, has great listening skills, takes direction well, and is eager to please, no treats required!

Sadly, Walt didn’t have a great life before coming to us because at some point while he was owned, he broke his leg and it was left untreated so he mostly walks on just three as he can’t bear much weight on one of them. We're currently waiting on surgery to get it repaired. Although he doesn’t walk quite like other dogs right now, it certainly doesn’t slow him down and he’s still a very happy pup and able to get around just fine! We just wouldn’t recommend a home with a lot of stairs. Walt is going to make a wonderful addition to any family!
