Walnut's Story

Walnut is a fun, treat-loving pup with a heart as big as his puppy paws. He came to us with his littermates after being found in a rabbit enclosure under a house, and he's been busy making up for lost time ever since. With patience, love, and plenty of snacks, Walnut has been blossoming into a more confident, playful, and downright lovable companion.

These days, he eagerly trots to the front of his kennel with loose wiggles, tail wags, and even silly play bows-especially if he thinks you might have treats. He's still on the shy side, especially around doorways, and sometimes prefers being picked up when it's time to go in or out. But give him a few minutes outside, and he relaxes, opens up, and shows off his joyful, bouncy personality.

Walnut loves playing fetch and lights up during playtime, especially when he's with another dog. Being around friendly pups has really boosted his confidence-he even made a new buddy in foster care and had a great time hanging out. He's dog-friendly with both rough-and-rowdy wrestlers and gentle playmates.

He's learning "sit," figuring out the world one treat at a time, and absolutely thriving with encouragement.

Walnut would do best with someone who can keep nurturing his confidence and enjoy his silly, sweet energy. If you're looking for a playful, eager-to-learn pup who just wants to be loved, Walnut might be the perfect nut for your family tree.

Nashville Humane Association's Adoption Policy
The adoption process at NHA is friendly, educational and rewarding! Animals come to us looking for a forever home, and we make certain to give them their best shot. All animals in our Adoption Program, while at NHA, receive spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and veterinary treatment. And of course, lots of love! Now, it's your turn to love them forever. Noticing that we use the word "forever" a lot? Well, it is really important to us that our pets find a permanent home! Therefore, adoption applicants are carefully screened and must meet adoption requirements prior to taking your new furry friend home. Adoption Requirements: •Be 18 years of age or older •A picture I.D. showing your present address •The knowledge and consent of your landlord (if applicable) •Ability to spend time/money necessary to provide training, medical treatment, and proper care for a pet. IMPORTANT: The Nashville Humane Association reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone. No animal will be adopted to prospective owners who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on the application. Now here comes the hard part. Visit with our wonderful cats and dogs and try to pick just one! NHA Pet Service Representatives are available to provide advice on selecting the best match for you and will schedule a Meet & Greet between family members (including those with four-legs) and your prospective pet to help you determine which animal will best accept your lifestyle. The next step is to fill out an Adoption Application. After the staff reviews and approves your application, it's on to a visit and then signing the adoption contract, paying the fee, and taking your new lucky cat or dog home!
