Waldo 's Story

Meet Waldo!
Age: 3yrs
Breed: Black Lab Blend
Weight: 77lbs
Gender: Neutered Male
Experience Level: 5

Waldo hasn’t had an easy start to life, but you’d never know it watching him zoom across the yard, tennis ball in mouth, eyes sparkling with joy. After spending years as an unapproachable stray in another shelter, Waldo arrived to us terrified and shut down. But with time, patience, and kindness, he’s started to trust, and now we get to see glimpses of the goofy, loving dog he was always meant to be.

Waldo’s Favorites:
Tennis balls. He’s a connoisseur, selecting only the best ones for a game of fetch. Be prepared to keep a large stash, he likes to swap them out mid-play.
Running. Waldo plays like it’s his job. His speed is impressive, and he’ll need a yard where he can safely let loose.
A small pool. After a few rounds of fetch, he likes to cool off those speedy paws and rinse his beloved tennis balls. It's a non-negotiable in his future home!

Socially:
Waldo is still learning how to "dog," so he prefers playful, respectful canine companions. He tends to click best with younger, silly dogs who won’t overwhelm him. He’s not the type to dive head-first into a playgroup, but give him time and the right match, and you’ll see his social side emerge.

Waldo’s Ideal Home:
An experienced, patient dog person who understands that healing takes time and love.
A respectful dog friend or two, preferably with a goofy streak.
A big supply of tennis balls (seriously, a lot).
A kiddie pool or splash area for post-fetch cool-downs.

Waldo is still learning to fully trust people, so he’ll need someone willing to go slow, let him set the pace, and celebrate the small wins. In return, you’ll get a loyal friend with a huge heart who just wants to run, fetch, splash, and finally... finally, belong.

If you think you might be the one to show Waldo what love and home truly mean, we’d love to talk!

Apply to adopt Waldo here: https://www.waynedogshelter.org/adoption-application
