Vonn's Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Vonn, named after Lindsey Vonn, Olympic Skiier â›·ï ̧
Vonn is a super cool mixed-breed pup with a one-of-a-kind look and an even sweeter personality! At just 5 months old and around 20 pounds, he’s the perfect compact size — and still growing into those adorable ears.
Vonn absolutely loves other dogs and will need a canine companion in his forever home. He thrives with a buddy and takes cues and corrections beautifully from his furry friends. He has played with dogs of all sizes — male and female — and his best friend right now is Goose, a big Great Pyrenees! Vonn made friends with a female Aussie at daycare but played well with all of the dogs. Vonn can get a little jumpy and mouthy during play with other dogs (typical happy puppy energy!), but he has a gentle play style with people. He loves to play with toys and will throw the toy in the air to himself.
He has also done wonderfully with the resident cat in his foster home. While he may bark and play bow to try and invite her to join the fun, he’s been respectful of her space.
Vonn spends time in his crate when his foster family is away from the home. It takes him about 10 minutes to settle in, but once he realizes it’s rest time he relaxes and sleeps the day away. He has done well with potty training as long as he is taken out routinely. He doesn’t mind being carried and is now starting to follow his foster mom around the house. He will need a little time and patience to fully settle into a new environment, but once he does, you’ll see just how special he is. He will follow and take cues from the other animals in the home. Vonn is currently in his chewing phase but does re-direct well and loves a bully stick, frozen Kong, lick mat and snuffle mat.
A fenced yard would be ideal for Vonn, as he’s loves to run and play when outside. He does well on a leash but having space to safely run and play would be a huge bonus for this active young pup. If no fenced yard, Vonn's foster would encourage the use of daycare a couple times a week
Vonn came into rescue as a pretty scared pup, he has opened up wonderfully, is enjoying being in a loving home and really has enjoyed being outside both in the snow and sun! If you’re looking for a playful, dog, cat, duck, chicken, goat friendly canine, Vonn might be your perfect match!
Apply to adopt through Sadie’s Safe Harbor Canine Rescue today!
Apply today at www.sadiesrescue.org
Please keep in mind there are many factors to consider when choosing the right match for a puppy, so an application cannot guarantee adoption. Nor do we work on a 'first come first served' basis, but rather strive to find the best match for the personality of each dog. At the time of adoption, the puppy will be current on vaccinations and deworming. Please consider the time and effort it takes to raise a puppy. Foster puppies are typically NOT potty trained. They require time and patience from their adopter. If you are NOT serious about adoption and have not discussed the possiblility of adding a new canine to your home with ALL live in family members, DO NOT APPLY. Volunteers spend countless hours reviewing applications, calling references, and scheduling home visits. Please be sure you are ready to add a puppy to your home BEFORE applying. Our puppy adoption fee is $400 plus a $50 training deposit, which is refunded to the adopter when he or she provides proof of having completed a basic obedience class with their puppy. As part of our adoption process, references both personal and veterinarian will be checked. Sadie's also requires a home visit before we adopt any of our dogs out; therefore we only adopt to our local WNY region.
