Von Dutch's Story

Meet Von Dutch, affectionately known as Tuppy.

At 9 years old, Tuppy finds himself looking for a new home through no fault of his own, and his story has left many of us heartbroken for this sweet boy. When his owner joined the Navy, Tuppy was cared for by the owner’s mother. Sadly, she has become very ill and is no longer able to care for him, leaving this senior boy in need of a fresh start. One thing we know for certain is that Tuppy’s family loved him very much, and he loved them.

According to his previous family, Tuppy is fully house trained, rides well in the car, and gets along nicely with other animals and kids. While he can coexist with other dogs, he’s more of a quiet observer than a playful, social butterfly. What Tuppy truly loves is people.

This sensitive soul is understandably confused and heartbroken by all the recent changes in his life. More than anything, he wants companionship. Since arriving at STAF, one of his favorite activities is simply lying outside next to a volunteer, soaking up gentle pets and enjoying someone’s company. He melts for cuddles, affection, and kind words.

Tuppy isn’t asking for much—just a soft place to rest, a family to love him, and someone who will cherish him through his golden years.

Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process. *** Email adoptadog@STAF.org for next steps! ***

Adoption through STAF includes full vetting of the dogs, including a spay/neuter at 6 months (female)/9month (male) maximum.

We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting.
You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.
Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences.
We do request vet and personal references.
We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter
