Vlad's Story

🐾Meet Vlad🐾

Vlad is a 4 year old German Shepherd. He is looking for his forever home! He originally came to us from Evansville Animal Care & Control (Official) and was adopted shortly after. Unfortunately, he was recently returned due to him not doing well with the man in the home. He does fine with everyone here at the shelter, so we suspect it to be connected to trauma in a home environment, a specific type of men (their look, smell, etc.) that triggers him, and/or protectiveness of the people he connects to.

Vlad is up to date on all vaccines, deworming, prevention, is microchipped, and neutered. He is ready to go home! Besides him not liking the adult man in the home, they said that Vlad was nearly the perfect dog! He is house trained, crate trained, leash trained, and rides well in the car. He did great with their kids (who are 10+), women, and dogs of all types. He knows sit, stay, heel, and down! He loves stuffed animals (at home, he liked to carry them everywhere!), rope toys, walking and running outside! His personality was described as sweet, energetic, and protective.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application on our website. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. We are open Wed-Thu 12-7 and Fri-Sun 12-4 if you'd like to come visit!

(Please consider giving her a follow and supporting her work! Warrick Humane Society's Adoption Policy
The Warrick Humane Society is a no-kill organization. Once an animal is rescued by WHS, it is saved for life. We will not release an animal to another organization that has a policy of euthanasia. In addition, we will only place animals with qualified prospective owners. We do not adopt out dogs or cats that will be kept outside. We only want loving indoor homes for our pets. We do thorough checks on all of our potential adopters before sending them to their fur-ever home. We also require that if you adopt a pet from us and are no longer able to keep it that it be returned to us, so that we can find it a new home.
