Vic's Story

*09/25/25 - It's officially FALL YALL!
Vic has volunteered to help be your fall supply shopping buddy...as long as you promise not to bring home the leprechaun
Vic is ready and waiting for a forever family to swoop him up and take him on a shopping spree!
Vic now knows his commands: come, stay, inside, quite, bye bye, car. He knows to stay near his human when in public, outside and visiting. He is great in the car, on walks or hikes so he is a true ride or die! Doesn't mind shopping or being petted by strangers. A strong sensitive type for sure, a real cuddle bug
Interested in this handsome personal shopper? Within a day, Vic convinced his foster family that he will make it worth being a long term foster by just showing his sweet snuggly side more and more every day!
Vic is still on his post treatment bed rest, and won't be able to go home for at least a couple more weeks until the vet clears him. But at this time we are accepting applications so we can schedule his potential meetings so he will hopefully have a family to join as soon as he is ready!
Is this 7 yr old, 8 lbs reddish boi the perfect match for you? If so, fill out an application at www.aychihuahuarescue.org/adopt
h/21/25 - Meet Vic!
Vic comes to us from the euthanasia list at PVAS. He was brought into the shelter with about a dozen other pups after his owner had been arrested. The poor babies did not enjoy the shelter, but their owner was going to pick them up when they were released from jail. After they were released, they went to their shelter to reclaim their babies...well most of them. Poor Vic was left behind and alone.
After being there alone without his siblings, Vic began to become aggressive and bitey, which unfortunately landed him on their kill list. We were able to get a foster, and Vic took the road trip to Austin, where he was so aggressive, they couldn't even get him out of the kennel. His fosters jokingly called him Vic as a nickname for vicious. After getting home, they took out the kennel and just set it down with the door open. In less than an hour, Vic had made himself home and laid on the back of their sofa, and was asking for pets!
Vic was just protecting himself when he was scared and now safe in a warm home, his guards came down and he was ready for his new life!
Vic is doing great, but did come back HW positive. This means he will be on medical hold for a few months as he undergoes treatment.
He's got some dull and patchy fur from either fleas or poor diet, so we have plenty of time to get him shining while we kill the wormies!
More updates to come!
h/11/25 - New intake from Palm Valley Animal Society - 7 yrs, 8 lbs, Shelter notes: Chocolate (Kelby) 228156 is a 7.6 lb Chihuahua who was surrendered by his owner and is currently struggling in the shelter environment. He is barrier reactive and displays a lot of barking when approached at his kennel. Even when I got down to his level, he continued barking.
He is food motivated and did eat from a glove, but would back away when I attempted to pet him.
Due to his fearful behavior, Chocolate is currently only available to rescue. He needs a rescue organization that can help him decompress and work through his fear. He must find placement by Sunday, 4/13.
