Vera's Story

Vera is a sweet and loving dog, currently 2yrs old and 37 lbs.<br/><br/>Vera was relinquished by a low income family that didn't have the means to provide good care for her.<br/><br/>DRWB took her in and she was transferred to live with a loving foster mom who has other dogs. Her foster says that Vera is one of the sweetest dogs she has fostered. She is so good with other dogs and people of all ages. She LOVES puppies, too.<br/><br/>She is not destructive or an escape artist. She is not a barker but alerts her foster when she hears strange noises.<br/><br/>Vera likes to go potty outdoors. Her foster leaves the back door open for her to go out. <br/><br/>Vera is truly a great dog and she deserves to go to an equally loving family that will care for her the rest of her life.

Additional Adoption Info Step 1 Fill application at our website www.drwb.org or click on this page on the right hand side of screen Step 2 Submit your adoption application to us. It may take a few days before your application is processed and you receive a response back. Step 3 If your application is approved, we will call you to schedule a "Meet & Greet". If we have an upcoming adoption event. We will set a time for you to come meet the dog that day, usually on Saturdays. Please make sure you take any family members and other dogs to see how the initial introduction goes. If we DON’T have an upcoming adoption event. And you have other dogs: We will schedule to meet you, any family members, and other dogs near your home first; this makes the entry into the new home easier for the dog and for your family. And you don’t have any other dogs: We will schedule to meet you and any family members at your home. Step 4 Meet your prospective new pet. Spend time with them and see how it goes. Step 5 If your "Meet & Greet" goes well and you wish to adopt; you will complete an adoption contract at the appointment. We ask for a suggested adoption donation to help us cover spay/neutering, shots, medical treatment, food, supplies and temporary care. These suggested donation amounts only partially cover the cost of expenses involved. Your donation is tax deductible. It’s that easy! Step 6 Take your new best friend home! Congratulations – you have saved a special life. What if the adoption doesn't work out? You can return any of our dogs as we don't want to see them turned into a shelter. The application process helps prevent such an issue, so it's very important that you are honest when answering the questions. Not all dogs are compatible in all situations, so it is imperative that you are forthright in the application process to find the right match. However, be sure you are ready to make a full commitment to adopting a dog, whether a puppy or an adult. It can take up to a few weeks for a dog to really adjust to his/her new environment. A lot really depends on the dog's past so the prospect of adopting should be well-thought-out & the commitment should be taken seriously.
