Vera's Story

Meet Vera!

?This stunning approximately 8/9-year-old female is searching for a home of her own. Vera has been with Ridge’s Rescue since 5/8/2023. She is officially the longest foster available for adoption.?

?Vera came to us by way of Rochester Animal Services. She was found tied up to a picnic table right outside of the shelter with 2 blown cruciates( ACL/knee ligament). After visiting our vet, it was determined that they were old injuries that were most likely causing pain. We moved forward with not one, but TWO TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Ostemotomy) surgeries to fix her knees.?

??Fast Forward…Vera was an exceptional patient, both surgeries were successful! She has full use of both legs, but due to the prior damage, she does need a little bit of assistance getting into high cars, onto couches/beds, and lots of stairs. Vera loves to take long walks(currently doing up to 3 miles a day, weather dependent), chasing her favorite Kong balls, trips for ice cream, bonfires in the summer, and fire places in the winter.

NEED TO KNOW:
?Vera is dog selective, she can get along with certain dogs, but would prefer to be an only dog. No dog parks for this lady!
?Vera is currently taking Gabapentin & a joint supplement to help with her older lady aches and pains(3 month supply of both meds come with her adoption)
?Vera is a grown ass adult. She is potty trained, knows a lot of basic commands, sticks close to her person, and is not destructive in the home. Due to some past trauma, a crate is not an option for her!
?Vera has proven to be very good with well taught and appropriate children over the age of 7. She has met younger children but only in short stints and due to her size they are not recommended (she has no special awareness)
?Vera is a larger lady weighing around 70lb, she is up to date on shots and microchipped.
?Vera can be found in the summer-time soaking up her vitamin D and sneaking marshmallows from the bag by the firepit
?NO CATs for Miss. Vera
?Adoption fee waived for the perfect home*
