Velvet's Story

Meet Velvet!
Velvet is a sweet, goofy pup with a heart as big as his paws. At just 10 months old, this Cane Corso is still learning that the world is a safe place. He can be fearful of strangers at first—but once you earn his trust, he becomes a total lovebug who’ll smother you in kisses and flop right onto your lap (personal space? Never heard of it).

Velvet has a high energy level and loves food puzzles, snuffle mats, chew toys, and following his person around like a shadow. He’s very affectionate and can be a bit needy—but in the most endearing way. He’s great on leash, mostly house-trained (just needs a little consistency), and sleeps peacefully through the night in his crate (even if he grumbles about going in).

Velvet recently had cherry eye surgery. The procedure was successful on one eye, but the other may not return fully to normal—though it doesn’t seem to bother him much! He’s also starting training with his foster to help build confidence and manage his anxiety, and he’s already making progress.

He’s good with other dogs—he previously lived with one—and he recently had a walking playdate with another pup that went really well! While he may bark at dogs from the car, he doesn’t react to them on walks and is continuing to learn positive social behaviors.

Velvet already knows several commands (even if he’s sometimes stubborn about following them!) and is picking up more every day as he heals and grows.

If you’re patient, loving, and ready to help a young pup blossom, Velvet will reward you with loyalty, laughter, and a whole lot of snuggles.
