Velvet's Story
Age: 7 years
Size: 58 lbs
Estimated breed: Pit bull mix
Perfect home: Another friendly resident dog

Velvet was the longest resident of one of our shelter partners, having spent over 500 days in their care for no reason other than she kept getting overlooked. Sadder still, this was her second time in the shelter - she was first adopted as a puppy but was returned FIVE years later when her "family" no longer had time for her. Here at Nirvana, we believe family is for life, not until. Life gets busy, schedules change, priorities shift, but dumping a family member in a loud, noisy shelter after five years in a home is simply unacceptable to us. Thanks to a local foster family saying "yes," Velvet is now safe with us and searching for a true forever family, one who will love her for the rest of her days, unconditionally!

Velvet is a young 7 years old and weighs 58 lbs. We are guessing she is some kind of pit bull terrier mix, but as always we cannot say for sure what other breeds may be hiding in her DNA! She is a shy but oh so sweet girl who blossoms with patience and consistency. Once she's comfortable, she'll happily show off her puppy-like zoomies and ask you to throw her favorite toy for a fetch session! She can be trusted outside of the crate and is not destructive in the home, and is doing great with house training in her foster home. Velvet has lived with dogs in and participated in shelter play groups. She adores their company and would love a home with another resident dog or two to play with! She is very gentle and has done fine with older/calm children, too!

We can't wait to see Velvet find a family who will cherish her like she deserves, and has deserved for the first 7 years of her life. To adopt Velvet, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application

Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.

PA Kennel License #18366
